Woo-hoo! I’m so jazzed!
While we were on vacation and had all the time in the world to chat about gaming and convention organizing, Edmund and I bounced a bunch of ideas. One of mine was to use the newly published Pirate’s Guide to Freeport from Green Ronin to run four days of pirate games at ConQuest NW. I talked to the rest of the group, then approached and to ask whether Green Ronin would be interested in endorsing and/or sponsoring such an event. They said yes to both!
So not only am I picturing the original idea: run at least four Freeport games, all in different systems such as True20 (naturally), Savage Worlds, PDQ/Questers of the Middle Realms, The Shadow of Yesterday, Spirit of the Century, 7th Sea, Burning Wheel, and D&D; but I’m now seized with the idea to extend this to a full-on pirate theme for the con. Other possible games:
- Pirates! minis game (Flagship Games)
- Puerto Rico board game (Rio Grande Games)
- Pirates card game (WizKids Games)
- Pirates of the Spanish Main RPG (Pinnacle Games)
You see this is headed for madness…
So anyhow, GM recruitment starts tonight. We’ll have player prizes and GM freebies!
Edit: I should add that this started because I’m really pleased with the Pirate’s Guide to Freeport, my latest RPG purchase. It’s a beautiful, system-less setting book that provides a very well weaved setting, 150 or so NPC thumbnails, locations galore, story seeds, etc.
