We went to Old Town section of Eureka to get our shopping done. We don’t have a whole lot of Christmas shopping this year again since, except for our niece, nephew, and a couple of other exceptions, we’re sending home-made gifts. But for the kids it’s nice to shop at Geppetto’s and Many Hands Gallery. We also stopped at Strictly For the Birds for bird feed, at Hurricane Kate’s for lunch, at the North Coast Co-op for our food shopping, and at Booklegger for, uh, no reason except that we love books. We did find a copy of Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food for $12.
Old Town was all dressed up in Christmas finery, and there were steady streams of shoppers, but not as many as I would have liked. Merchants say the year has been tough, of course.
