Note: This post is part of my big turkey recipe blitz leading up to the holidays.
I have no idea what is surprising about this dish, but it’s a quick, easy, comforting way to serve up turkey leftovers. Yeah, it’s a little nothing dish, but it makes me think of my childhood.
Ingredients
- 4 Tbsp (60 mL) butter
- 4 Tbsp (60 mL) flour
- 2 cups (500 mL) turkey or chicken broth
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 Tbsp (15 mL) soy sauce
- 3 cups (750 mL) turkey meat, cut in bite-size pieces
Make a white sauce by melting the butter in a sauce pan on medium heat, adding the garlic, whisking in the flour and browning it for one minute, then gradually adding the broth, stirring constantly. Simmer on low heat for 8 minutes. Add the soy sauce and turkey, and serve on white rice (I love basmati) with a side of green vegetables or a salad.
